Why going to a bio market ?

Local , seasonal products , support to small producers

We can nowadays find more easily organic products on conventional markets. Like at the Place du Châtelain on Wednesday or at Place Flagey on Saturday and Sunday morning. But some Brussels markets go even further and have made the bio their specialty, we decided to present them .

Organic products are clearly better for health. But in bio markets, you'll also find some products difficult to find elsewhere in Brussels. An example? Some "forgotten" vegetables , like the leaves of moutarderlovage or purslane.

Buying organic is also almost a civic act, encourage local production. And if it still had to convince you, vegetables are better, fresher and often cheaper than organic products in supermarkets.

This organic market is primarily the happy dreaming of 5 young people in a crusade against the ravages of agro-business "make healthy food accessible to everyone and fight to restore a natural balance within the agricultural world" . Their adventure began distributing organic vegetable baskets by bicycle. In April 2013, they created their organic market, a small market on a human scale at the entrance of Glacières de Saint-Gilles.

If some fresh food remain unsold at the end of the market, the team of Les heureux set up a small network in the area to collect and cook them.

What we'll you find there?

Local organic and seasonal vegetables and fruits  come from small Belgian producers, and the rest, from small craftsmen and producers of Bourgogne and Italy.
